Wednesday: Homework will be reading. 2:45 Awards Celebration to be held in Mrs. Ross' Classroom. This is to acknowledge the accomplishments of the first graders in our class! Arrive around 2:30 so that we may begin PROMPTLY at 2:45. Hope to see you there. If you haven't already done so, please let me know if you plan to attend! Thank you!
NO BOOK CHECK OUT. ALL LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE AT THIS TIME. If your child has not yet returned their library book, please have them do so this week.
Thursday: Last day of school!
Dismissal is at 11:35. We will have our annual bell ringing to close out the 2015/16 school year at 11:2ish on the back playground. We will dismiss from here, so please join us on the basketball court to hear a few words from Mrs. Poleski! Bussers and latchkey will be walked to those locations after the bell ringing. Thank you for a great school year! Please be sure to instill a routine of daily reading enjoyment with your child! They have worked so hard this school year. Without consistent, daily practice, they will lose what they have worked to hard to accomplish!
Thank you to Mrs. Houthoofd who made an additional donation of anti-bacterial wipes to our classroom! These will greatly help as we clean out our desks one last time!
This week in...
Math: Unit 8 assessments will be going home on Monday. 2-digit addition can be tricky for first graders at this time. They will continue to learn about this in second grade. We will work with pictographs for this last week of school.
Reading: We continue to progress through our Reading Mastery lessons as well as practice our fluency through partner reading, poetry, and re-readings of text.
Writing: We will be finishing our informational books on Monday and will be sharing them with each other on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Social Studies: We will be carrying out something we can do to help improve our community or world as we have learned from Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
As always, if you have any questions, please let me know!
Have a great week!
